Completely re-imagined and redesigned the new Museum brings Tipperary’s rich hidden history vividly to life through characters, stories and is one of the largest museum collections in Ireland. Expect to be surprised and intrigued by what you find! Immerse yourself in stories of castles and conquests, courage, superstition, murder and death. Explore tales of two worlds, from rural life in 19th century Tipperary to the Big Houses on the Suir Valley. Come face to face (literally) with Oliver Cromwell. Learn about one man and his boat and meet a host of heroes from the world of sports and entertainment. This multi-sensory experience is a must-see on your journey into Ireland’s Ancient East.

Walk through the intriguing and immersive galleries with museum professionals to get an exclusive behind the scenes experience. Farrier – Meet Joe Channon, a thirdgeneration farrier (based in Clonmel). Joe will demonstrate the ancient craft of a farrier. You’ll experience the rich traditions, techniques and raw materials in this unique hands-on experience.

The tour route has full wheelchair accessibility. Wheelchairs available on request, and wheelchair-accessible restrooms. The museum experience is indoors, and the forge experience is indoor/outdoor please dress accordingly for the weather, closed toe shoes are recommended.
