Kildare’s Spirit of St. Brigid Returns with Music, Heritage, and Celebration

December 16, 2024

The Spirit of Kildare Festival returns in 2025, celebrating the enduring legacy of St. Brigid with an extraordinary programme that promises to inspire and delight audiences from Ireland and beyond. Running from January 24th to February 3rd, this festival transforms Kildare into a hub of music, culture, and community, anchored by the theme, “Her Spirit, Our Story.”

A World-Class Musical Line-Up
The festival proudly showcases a spectacular roster of Ireland’s most celebrated artists and performers. Leading the way are musical talents such as Imelda May, Lyra, Sharon Shannon, and the Irish Women in Harmony, alongside a special He For She: An Evening for Equality concert in Athy featuring renowned male performers, including Bob Geldof and Danny O’Reilly. With events curated by Hot Press magazine, performances will take place across iconic venues in Leixlip, Naas, The Curragh, and the historic St. Brigid’s Cathedral.

A Celebration of Heritage and Inclusion
Building on the success of Brigid 1500, which attracted nearly 80,000 visitors in early 2024, the 2025 festival delves deeper into Brigid's extraordinary legacy as a trailblazer for justice, compassion, and equality. St. Brigid, one of Ireland's most iconic figures, was a 5th-century leader who championed the poor, empowered women, and brought communities together. Her monastery in Kildare became a beacon of peace, learning, and hospitality, values that continue to resonate globally today.

Cultural Highlights and Community Engagement
Beyond music, the festival promises large-scale events, intimate gatherings, art commissions, thought-provoking talks, and workshops designed to celebrate St. Brigid’s values. Visitors can explore St. Brigid’s Well, walk the historic paths of her legacy, and participate in the Pause for Peace movement, a global call for unity and reflection on February 1st, St. Brigid’s Day.

With tickets going on sale Friday, December 13th, and a history of rapid sell-outs, early booking is advised. Visit Spirit of Brigid for the full programme and to start planning your journey into the heart of Ireland’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
