Johnny Murtagh Racing

As a jockey, Johnny Murtagh was Irish Champion Jockey on five occasions.  He won many of the major flat races in Europe, including all the Irish Classics, all the Group 1 Races at Royal Ascot, The Derby, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, and Europe’s biggest race, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.  As a trainer based at stables on The Curragh of Kildare, he has saddled multiple winners, including Classics and Royal Ascot.  He opens his gates now to visitors to Thoroughbred Country for an exclusive morning with Johnny, his wife Orla and their team at Fox Covert Stables.

There is no better sight than watching a horse being exercised amongst a necklace of horses in the morning, and with thirty miles of grass, sand, and woodchip gallops, JP Murtagh Racing have every facility available to train racehorses, quite literally, on their doorstep. The Curragh Training Grounds have produced some of the finest thoroughbreds in racing, from the Epsom Derby, Arc De Triomphe, Guineas, and Melbourne Cup to Breeders’ Cup winners. This is your opportunity to learn about the day in the life of a leading trainer.  Be part of the family and join them for a beautifully homemade brunch in their home.  This boutique experience is suitable for 2 – 8 guests and will be approximately 3 hours duration.
