Coolmore Stud, based in Fethard, County Tipperary is generally acknowledged to be the world’s biggest, and best, thoroughbred racehorse breeding operation.

Situated in the heart of the Golden Vale on some of Ireland’s finest limestone land, Coolmore provides the perfect environment for breeding and raising thoroughbreds.

Coolmore is owned by the Magnier family whose association with the stallion business dates back to the 1850’s with Thomas Magnier offering the services of his stallions to local breeders along the Blackwater Valley in Co. Cork.

The first Coolmore stallion to become Champion Sire was Be My Guest in 1982 launching Coolmore onto the world stage. The next Champion was Caerleon in 1988 and 1990 saw the first of 31 straight sires’ championships go the way of Coolmore stallions. Sadler’s Wells notched up a record 14 titles including 13 in a row, his son Galileo recorded a total of 12 including 11 in a row while Danehill and his son Danehill Dancer took four more between them.
